Vision Boards: What They Are & How They Can Help You Win
Get Inspired and Stay Motivated to Win
How Vision Boards Can Help You Win More Prizes:
Every sweepstakes fan I know has occasionally struggled with frustration over dry spells, those motivation-killing times when you enter and enter and enter, but don't win any prizes.
The easiest thing to do when you start wondering if you are wasting your time entering sweepstakes is to stop. But if you don't enter sweepstakes, you won't win.
A better solution is to find fun ways to keep yourself motivated, even when the wins aren't coming in.
And a vision board might be your answer.
What Is a Vision Board?
Also known as a dream board or an inspiration board, a vision board is a collage of words and images that make you feel positive and empowered.

How to Use a Vision Board to Win More Sweepstakes
A vision board helps you stay more motivated to enter and win sweepstakes by visualizing the prizes you want to win.
Entering sweepstakes is a hobby that should be fun. But when you've hit a dry spell, where you feel like you're entering day after day without winning, it's easy to get frustrated and give up.
A vision board is an easy way to remind yourself why you're spending that time entering sweepstakes. The idea is to gather pictures that symbolize the prizes you want to win, and display them in a place that you see daily. The best place to locate your vision board is close to where you enter your sweepstakes, such as the wall behind your computer desk.
When you're feeling frustrated, take a few minutes to glance at your vision board and remind yourself that prizes could be yours if you keep up with your entries. Remember that your very next entry could be the one that wins a prize you've been dreaming of.
Here are some ideas for an inspiration board that can help keep you motivated to enter sweepstakes:
- Pictures of prizes that you would like to win, like a special vacation destination or that family room makeover you've been dreaming of.
- Inspirational quotes about winning.
- Photos of prizes that you've won in the past, to remind you that winning is possible.
- The confirmation letters or emails from your favorite prizes.
- An imagine that represents how you feel when you win. People jumping for joy, big smiles, anything that makes you feel inspired.
- Simple words or phrases that reassure you, like: "Believe!" "You can do it!" "Don't give up!" or "You're a winner!"
What Makes an Inspiration Board Effective?
You don't want to create a vision board that is cluttered or overpowering. Before you add an image to your board, carefully consider how it makes you feel and how it fits in with other images you already have.
Over time, you might discover that one of your images doesn't make you feel as positive as you thought it would. Don't be afraid to take it down and replace it.
In fact, it's a good idea to change things around occasionally, so that you don't become so accustomed to your board that you don't really notice it anymore.
You don't want anything negative on your inspiration board, including anything that references frustration or dry spells.
Your board should make you feel really good when you look at it.

Don't Have Room for an Inspiration Board?
If cutting pictures out of magazines isn't your thing, or if you don't have room in your house for a bulletin board, you can also make a virtual board.
You can use your computer to create a digital collage to help inspire you to win. Then set it as your desktop wallpaper or your screensaver, so that you will see it when you are entering online sweepstakes.
Vision Boards and The Secret
Vision Boards are mentioned in the popular book, The Secret, which claims that you can attract the things you want in life to you through positive thinking.
Vision boards are a good way to focus your positive thoughts on the things you want.
The Secret tells the story of John Assarf, who created some vision boards for the things he wanted to achieve in his life. Five years later, he pulled some of the boards out of boxes packed away in his home, only to realize that the home he was living in was actually pictured on one of the vision boards. You can hear John Assarf tell his story to Larry King on YouTube.
I can't promise that a vision board will deliver the exact prize you've been dreaming of, but if it helps you focus on your entries, you'll win more often.
A Vision Board is Not Enough
Making a vision board is a tool to help keep you feeling positive and motivated enough to win prizes. However, they can have a down side as well.
Psychology Today has an interesting article that shows that too much visualization and not enough action can actually make it harder for you to achieve your goals.
In one example from that article, a study showed:
"Senior students were asked to note how often they fantasized about getting their dream job after college graduation. Two-year follow-up — the students who had frequently fantasized about success had submitted fewer job applications, received fewer job offers, and had smaller salaries."
Fantasizing about winning is one of my favorite parts of entering sweepstakes, but you have to make sure that you're actually doing the work of entering if you want those fantasies to come true.
